Message from a friend after the arson in Tabgha

Ron Mandelbaum, a friend of the kehilla and a tour guide, sent us these words after the arson in the Tabgha church today, Thursday, June 18, 2015.

I went to express my protest, shock and revulsion following the arson in the Church of the Multiplication of the Loaves and the Fishes in Tabgha on the shores of the Sea of Galilee, this morning.

This was never our way, it is not the way of Judaism, this is not Judaism.

This is hooliganism, ugly and evil, violence that is making our lives in this land, lives lived in respect and collaboration with one and all, difficult and exceedingly problematic.

This is a sad and difficult day.

I hope that our friends from the German Association of the Holy Land, the sisters and our brothers, the Benedictines, who are also responsible for Dormition Abbey on Mount Zion, where they are suffering from the same kind of Jewish hooligans, will accept our hand stretched out to them in deep sympathy at this terrible hour.
