On Sunday, June 7,at 10.00 in the morning, twelve people – members or friends of the Jerusalem kehilla – participated in the mass at the Maronite church in the Old City of Jerusalem. The small church is situated in the hostel in the Armenian Quarter. Father Joseph Sfeir, responsible for the Maronite community in Jerusalem, welcomed us with love and everyone had an interesting experience, discovering this Eastern Church tradition rooted in our region, in Syria and the Lebanese mountains. After mass, we sat and chatted in the courtyard of the hostel and Father Joseph accompanied those who were interested up to the roof of the building, from where one has a wonderful vantage point over the Old City and its surroundings. We thank him and intend to invite him to visit us in the near future and tell us about the history of the Maronite Church.
