May celebration of the Filipino community in Jerusalem

Once again the San Lorenzo Ruiz Community and the Good Shepherd Filipino Catholic Community celebrated the Santacruzan and Flores De Mayo. The celebration started with the procession of Sagalas (the beautifully attired Filipinas dressed as queens and representing the titles of Mary, the women of the Gospel and Queen Helena). A large group of faithful including many children dressed in white with the wings of angels, marched in procession from Zion Square all the way to Saint Peter’s Church in Ratisbonne.

The joyful procession was followed by the Holy Eucharist to celebrate the Feast of the Most Holy Trinity, which was celebrated by Rev. Father David Neuhaus, responsible for the Migrants in Israel. After the Mass everyone enjoyed the cultural program held in the basketball court of the Ratisbone Monastery. The Philippine Ambassador, His Excellency Neal Imperial was guest of honor with his wife. The crowd the cultural presentations and ethnic dances that showed the diversity of the community.

It was a very successful event that showed again the devotion of the Filipino Catholic community to Mama Mary and to Saints Constantine and Helena for finding the True Cross here in Jerusalem. It also showed the unity of the community in celebrating together hand in hand for the such an event...
