Tel Aviv, often thought of as the secular Jewish city par excellence today has a large population of Catholics in the poor southern neighborhoods of the city. The month of Mary is a time for Catholics to express their love and respect for Mother Mary and the Catholics of south Tel Aviv did this on Saturday, May 30, 2015.

In the morning, Father Michael Grospe, director of the Our Lady Woman of Valor Pastoral Center, celebrated mass for the Sri Lankan community. The coordinator of the community, Sister Clarice Pereira, organized the procession of faithful in the grounds of the center.

In the afternoon, young and old faithful from the Filipino community gathered in Levinsky Park and then proceeded through the streets around the Central Bus Station in the traditional Santa Cruzan procession, a procession in which the children who celebrated their first communion at Pentecost played an important role. Women from the community represented the various titles of Mary, dressed in magnificent traditional dresses.

Mother Mary, we love you! Pray for us!
