Praising the Lord together

An Italian friend sent us a musical clip of the "Jewish Cantata" (Canticum Hebraicum), accompanied by her beautiful photos of Venice.

This cantata has a special story. The 17th century composer Carlo Grossi, an Italian Christian, composed it for the Jewish religious fraternity "Shomerim la-Boker" to be performed in their synagogue.

"Shomerim la-Boker" - the Watchmen of the Dawn (now we would call them a "charismatic group") – spent the night full in joyful prayer vigils, glorifying God. The name of the fraternity was taken from Psalm 130: "My soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the dawn; yea, more than watchmen for the dawn" (Ps 130:6). The text of the "Jewish cantata" was written and sung in Hebrew.

May the united praise of God help to bring peace and beauty in our world in our times too!
