Confirmation class from OLWV visits Jerusalem

The group was predominantly composed of those preparing for confirmation at the Pastoral Center in Tel Aviv and the other members of the group were their teenage accompaniers and their teacher, Father David. The group enjoyed the generous hospitality of the Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Mission, which has a beautiful house that hosted the group. The group is particularly grateful to Mari and her husband Sami.

On the first day, the group visited the Way of the Cross, praying at each station. Longer periods were spent at the Ecce Homo Convent and at the Church of the Resurrection (Holy Sepulcher). On the second day, the group visited the shrines on Mount Zion, the Room of the Last Supper, the Tomb of King David and the Dormition Abbey. This was a golden opportunity to revisit the narratives of Holy week and Easter.

Wherever they went, the youth could witness the thousands of Orthodox Christians who are preparing to celebrate Easter which will fall according to the Eastern calendar next Sunday, April 12, 2015.
