Last Saturday, during the Sunday mass that is celebrated in the evening because of the circumstances in which the members of the community live, the mass was celebrated by a special guest: a fresh, new priest – Father Giacomo, from the community of Koinonia John the Baptist. He, together with two sisters from his community, Misha and Basha, came all the way from Tiberias to visit Jaffa after a long time that they had been planning this.
In his homily, Father Giacomo shared a little of his personal story. He shared with the members of the Jaffa kehilla who attended this mass the moment in which he felt that God was calling him, the moment in which he felt that God was part of him and part of every other person. In this way he emphasized the reading from the Gospel that was read by Father David (2:13-25) and he urged each one of those present to look for God who dwells within us, we who are called to be Temples of His Spirit.
After the homily, the members of the community prayed especially for two candidates who are preparing to join the Body of Christ. At the end of the mass, Father Giacomo gave a special blessing, a sign of the special grace that he enjoys as a newly ordained priest.
After light refreshments that were prepared in honor of those celebrating their birthdays, the faithful went home feeling renewed and in their hearts a message: seek God within. Let us remember that He is also within and let us make an effort to remember this in any given moment.
