A youth meeting in Haifa

Fun, friendship, and a feeling of security. May reports:

On Friday and Saturday, December 21-22, we had a youth meeting in Haifa. We started our meeting by sitting in a circle and making acquaintance with one another, because some new members joined the group.I did not think I would connect with everyone but I was wrong, I could indeed connect to everyone as if they were part of the family.

We prepared dinner and ate all together. After the meal we played the dwarf and the giant ("Secret Santa"), a game where gifts are exchanged (each one of us had received the name of a group member, in advance, and had to prepare a gift for him.) The game was an initiative of some of us who had not only to find an idea but also to care for the organization! We played the game a bit differently but we enjoyed it very much.

At night we went for a walk in the German Colony. We took photos, sang and danced for the people passing by, the performance being prepared by Father Piotr's Desert Flower Choir. It was a real fun to see everyone connected to the others.

On Saturday, after getting up, we had the morning prayer and a breakfast. After eating, we had a few activities prepared by Danielle and Habib. First, Danielle gave us some passages from the New Testament and we had to build a performance out of them. It was quite funny and we enjoyed it. Then Habib gave us a few sentences (concerning Bible, Science, or any other topic), we divided into groups and we had to decide whether the sentences were correct or not. The purpose of the activity was to know how to decide whether things are right or wrong, and Habib explained to us how we could decide.

After the activity we went to the market in Haifa. We were given free time to walk around the market, buy things and eat. After the market, we went back to the community and had lunch.

Then, unfortunately, we had to part from one another and go home.

This experience of being together with other Christians for a weekend is hard to explain, it gives a feeling of security since you do not have to hide who you are. I am very grateful to Fr Piotr, Daniel and Habib who organized the present meeting and worked hard, just to make it possible for us to have fun. Thanks also to Father Wojtek who welcomed us in the Haifa community!youth dec2018
