Yom Kippur

This year, the Day of Atonement falls on September 16th

The 10th day of the Hebrew month of Tishrei is dedicated to the prayers and peers for forgiveness. In Israel it is the day of silence: there is no work, no shopping, no schools, no cars... Most of the TV channels are not broadcasting. The streets of the cities are filled with kids playing soccer or riding bicycles in the middle of big crossroads. Religious people are fasting, praying and going to synagogues.

It is a perfect occasion to everyone to use this time as an extra possibility to search for God. The world stops almost completely on this day - there can not be any excuse about the lack of time. This day can be used well in order to do something that may not be possible every day: read the Bible, pray or do the examination of conscience.

The following short movie may be a helpful guide for the people that are looking to come back to God. Maybe the day of silence in the entire country is a good occasion to spend some time with Him...
